Research is published by the School of Legal Studies into why fewer students from ethnic minority backgrounds gain training contracts. It provides some interesting insight and makes recommendations for firms to boost equal opportunities.
 
Steve Pitt from the Water Science and Technology group (WatStech) at the University scoops first place in a national competition with a description of a new way to clean up the main source of UK drinking water. Steve beat water industry professionals and researchers around the UK to come top in the Young Author’s competition organised by Scientific Group of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM), the international body representing environmental professionals.
