Who we are

The University of Wolverhampton (‘The University’, ‘we’ or ‘us’) are a ‘Data Controller’, as defined by the Data Protection Act 2018 and are responsible for, and control the processing of your Personal Data. How We Use Your Data

The University of Wolverhampton Alumni Association aim to maintain a relationship with graduates once they have left the University. This helps us to increase our offers to current and future students via volunteering, events and fundraising. We collect personal information to enable us to deliver the services you request and to understand our Alumni community so that we can better meet your needs and improve our services.

The University of Wolverhampton Alumni Association will collect and processes your Personal Data for the following purposes:

Information We Collect

When processing your personal data, we will always highlight areas where we need to ask for your consent as the lawful basis and will give you the choice to opt-in. If you do consent or opt in, we will let you know how you can opt out in the future. We will not process your personal data for any other purpose other than those stated above without informing you first.

The vast majority of information that we process about you will be provided by you. This will typically be via our website.

The information provided by you may, when necessary, include details such as those below:

  • your title, full name (including former name or alias), gender, date of birth;
  • your education record (Degree and Award details, Year of study and graduation); Previous college information
  • your contact information (home/term time address, telephone number(s), email address);
  • your business details, including positions, organisation, professional memberships and
  • qualifications;
  • your career highlights and other lifetime achievements;
  • your outside interests and memberships;
  • your financial information – only when making payments
  • information available through the media or the world-wide web;
  • your family details, including your spouse/partner, and relationships with other alumni, supporters and potential supporters;
  • your donations of time, expertise or monetary value;
  • ethnicity data and/or
  • other information you share with us.

 

All of your personal data is processed in the UK or EEA.

 

Who We Share Your Personal Data With

Information is shared with relevant departments within the University for the purposes outlined above. In addition, specific data may be obtained from and shared with the following external parties for the purposes specified.

We may also share personal details with organisations with enforcement powers such as HMRC or the Police. However, we will only do so if this is required to comply with our legal obligation to disclose information to these bodies.

We will only share the minimum amount of personal data with any of the above and will always do so in accordance with the law.

 

Retention

Your data is retained for up until the end of your relationship with the University of Wolverhampton Alumni. Note however that payment details via our merchant service will only be held for 180 days from the transaction date.
