Lamp procession celebrates student nurses

Student nurses celebrated the completion of their studies at the University of Wolverhampton with a special lamp procession.

Symbolic Florence Nightingale-style lamps were carried from the University to St Peter's Church in Wolverhampton city centre on Thursday, 29 August 2018.

The University holds lamp procession ceremonies each year to celebrate the achievements of its nursing students as they move onto the next stages of their careers.

Yesterday's ceremony featured 14 students on the Master's of Adult and Mental Health Nursing courses at the University of Wolverhampton.

The ceremony at St Peter's Church featured speeches, poetry and signing, and every student was presented with a badge to mark the occasion.

Families, friends and placement associates and mentors also attended the ceremonies.

Nancy Ntembo, a Master of Mental Health Nursing student, said: "We are very proud to celebrate our achievements with our loved ones and members of the University who have supported us on our journey.

"The ceremony was a great way to celebrate the hard work we have all put into our studies and placements as we go into the next stage of our careers."
