Join us on Thursday 4 March for University Mental Health Day
On Thursday, 4 March, members of the University community, co-ordinated by the Mental Health and Wellbeing Team, are coming together to share knowledge, offer support and encourage building positive habits.
The theme for this year’s University Mental Health Day is to promote student wellbeing through healthy conversations.
Virtual wellbeing activities will be running throughout the day, with something for everyone. Activities will cover how we can look after our mental health, help us understand how we respond to trauma, and include tips for studying more effectively. Your Academic Coaches will be hosting a Coaches Kitchen Breakfast Special, while WLV Sport will lead you through some energising exercises. And there are lots of other sessions and workshops involving arts and crafts, music and sport.
While activates are predominately aimed at students, staff are welcome to join in!

Two parallel streams of activities are taking place throughout the day. Most of the activities are via Ms Teams. No pre-booking required; click on the appropriate joining link at the time of the event you want to join. (Note, you may be prompted to sign-in.)

‘Outside for a break’ with LucySpending short periods of time out of your room or away from your work can change the way you feel. Make time to walk in daylight where you can consider your breathing. A longer out-breath can slow down your heart rate. When you return to your studies, you may feel fresher and better able to find solutions to your projects. Next time you are on your way to the shop or during your exercise hour, consider your environment: the wildlife, the sounds, smells, the weather; if there is anything different from the last time you left your room or your house. As a break, bring a phone and join Lucy for a ‘what’s in the garden today?' We’ll be looking for signs of Spring; consider possible activities or maybe planting seeds... (No specialist equipment is required – only things that can be found in a kitchen.) |
