Coronavirus Student Update: Placements & Progression: Wednesday 25 March 2020

Please be aware that this information was shared with students by email and correct at the time of sending. For the latest Covid-19 guidance, please visit our coronavirus webpages: www.wlv.ac.uk/coronavirus. If you are a student who has a query or needs support, please log a helpcall with ASK@WLV in e:Vision (www.wlv.ac.uk/evision).

Placements

Thank you for queries from students on placements or due to take up placements over the next week.  Please do check your University email for updates and advice specific to your programme. If you have further queries about placements, log a call through eVision and someone will respond to you as soon as possible.

Online Delivery

It is good to see the ways in which students and staff have engaged with online learning even though we know that there are some challenges.  Given the Government’s announcement early this week about the need for strict social distancing for at least three weeks, all teaching for the remainder of this semester will be online.

Assessments

We appreciate that a lot of you will have questions about how we might need to change assessments that are happening online rather than face to face.  Please rest assured that plans are being drawn up for each course to ensure that students, wherever possible, are not disadvantaged as they progress with their studies.  We are mindful of individual circumstances and will make every effort to be flexible in our approach when looking at alternatives ways of assessing and examining work.  As soon as we have more details, we will update you.

Information and Feedback

Students are encouraged to check Canvas regularly for updates about individual programmes and courses and if you have any specific queries in relation to your studies please log a call through eVision and this will be picked up and responded to as soon as we can.

Assignments and Dissertations

We will be uploading some FAQs to the University’s dedicated web page about assignment deadlines and dissertations over the next few days to clarify some of the details for you.

You will find the web page here: www.wlv.ac.uk/coronavirus along with Frequently Asked Questions on a range of topics which are regularly updated.
