Black History Month

October is Black History Month, the annual celebration of the unique history of Black people across the world, and the contribution that Black Britons make to society.

The University is once again acting as the leading sponsor of Wolverhampton Black History Month, having supported the production of a promotional brochure by the local community.

The brochure has been distributed at Fresher's Fayre, across campuses and in the wider local community.

Key events being organised by the University include:

Weekly film screenings at the Arena Theatre on Tuesdays at 6pm including a screening of The Black Panther on 15 October (more information at https://wlv.ticketsolve.com/shows)

Black History Month Seminar organised by Dr Shirin Housee featuring guest speakers Vanley Burke and Paul Maclean- Date and room to be confirmed.

An intergenerational awareness raising event in the Chancellors Hall hosted by former University Governor Dr Josh Johnson MBE.

The Students' Union is also organising events that are available to staff members include a Black History Month debate on the 9 October at 7pm and a cooking demonstration on the 24th October at 2pm in The Venue.
