Engineering group measures success with racing team sponsorship

01/06/2020

An engineering group is measuring the rate of its successful sponsorship of the University of Wolverhampton’s Racing Team (UWR).

Bowers Group recently celebrated World Metrology Day with continued support of the team which is part of the University’s School of Engineering based at its Telford Innovation Campus.

As a leading supplier of quality metrology instruments to organisations throughout the world, Bowers Group based in Bradford is a respected global leader in the field of measurement.

Dave Smith, UK Key Account Manager at Bowers Group, said: “We are really pleased to have extended our sponsorship of UWR, taking our partnership to 2022.

“As part of our sponsorship, we’ve been able to donate a variety of our metrology equipment to the School of Engineering, giving students and Engineering Apprentices access to a range of measurement tools including Calipers, Micrometers, Internal Bore Gauges and Height Gauges to help them with their studies.”

UWR is the only student-run racing team to compete in the F3 Cup and the AR Morgan Challenge, giving Motorsports and Automotive engineers the chance to design, manufacture, and race in a competitive environment. As a result, students gain valuable engineering industry experience working as a professional team in competitive motorsport.

The metrology equipment donated by Bowers Group are essential tools for students, giving them a head start with the equipment they will use in their future careers.

Dr Syed Hasan, Head of the School of Engineering at the University and UWR Chairman, said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Bowers Group as an official sponsor of the University of Wolverhampton Race Team, and it’s great to have them on board.

“We’re also delighted with the generous donation they have made, that will be a vital part of our formula student build, as well as for the Formula 3 and Morgan Motor Company teams. Thank you Bowers Group for your generous support!”
