Black Country Chamber Business Heroes Awards fast approaching

27/10/2020

The University of Wolverhampton is the headline sponsor of the fast approaching Black Country Chamber Business Heroes Awards which will recognise the outstanding contributions made by people and businesses in the Black Country during these difficult times.

The awards, which take place on November 13, will conclude the Black Country Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Business Heroes’ campaign, with a high-energy, virtual ceremony which is free to attend.

“We’re pleased to continue supporting the Black Country Chamber of Commerce by being the headline sponsors for these awards,” said Professor Nazira Karodia, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Regional Engagement. “These awards are especially important to recognise the extent to which businesses in the region have rallied throughout the pandemic.”

During the virtual ceremony, Professor Karodia will present three awards; Kindness in the Community, Adaptability and Innovation, and Exceptional Employee/Team. All of these categories have been judged by University representatives.

Richard Nicklin, Deputy Director for Business Engagement, added: “Throughout the pandemic the University has looked to provide support to Black Country businesses as they have adapted and innovated to develop resilience.

“We want to acknowledge the hard work undertaken by organisations, and to shine a light on those who have gone above and beyond to help colleagues, the community and the national efforts at such challenging times.”

Jude Thompson, president of the Black Country Chamber revealed the finalists last week (October 15) during the close of the third Black Country Business Festival. He said: “I would like to thank everyone who has entered the Black Country Chamber Business Heroes Awards. We have genuinely been overwhelmed by the ingenuity, determination and resilience of the local business community in meeting the challenges of 2020.

“We have received an exceptional number of extremely high-quality entries in every category and the judges have found the shortlisting process extremely difficult. I would like to offer my congratulations to all the finalists.”

Free tickets can be booked via the Award’s webpage for the event which takes place November 13, 3:45pm – 5:00pm, along with options to donate to the Chamber’s chosen charities; Teenage Cancer Trust and Parkinson’s UK and also purchase a special celebration box if desired.
