Who we are

The University of Wolverhampton (‘The University’, ‘we’ or ‘us’) are a ‘Data Controller’, as defined by the Data Protection Act 2018 and are responsible for and control the processing of your Personal Data. How We Use Your Data

The University of Wolverhampton would like to organise some focus groups with students from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. You have been contacted for this purpose as you are a student from this region. If you choose to take part in the focus groups, the purpose of them will be to discuss how your application journey was and ask how your experience wit the university is so far. The  university will also ask you if you have any recommendations on where to recruit students from your country, as well as advice on market trends. The lawful basis we rely on to process your personal data in this way is that it is a legitimate interest of ours.

During the focus group you will be asked if you would be happy to give us some testimonials to use for future marketing materials. If you are happy to provide a testimonial, we will gather your consent. If you do provide consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time and will be told how to do this on the consent form.

We will not process your personal data for any other purpose other than those stated above without informing you first.

Information We Collect

The vast majority of information that we process about you will be provided by you during the focus group session.

Who We Share Your Personal Data With

Information is shared with relevant departments within the University for the purposes outlined above.  We may also share personal details with organisations with enforcement powers such as HMRC or the Police. However, we will only do so if this is required to comply with our legal obligation to disclose information to these bodies. We will only share the minimum amount of personal data with any of the above and will always do so in accordance with the law.

Retention

Your data is retained for four years from end of course for future marketing and alumni events.

Your Rights

As an individual, you have a number of rights available to you. How to Complain

If you have any queries, concerns or believe that your Personal Data is being handled in a manner which is contrary to statutory requirements, you may wish to contact the University of Wolverhampton’s Data Protection Officer via dataprotection@wlv.ac.uk or complain to the ICO via www.ico.org.uk
