Senior Leader Apprenticeship Level 7 – Master of Business Administration

The Senior Leader Apprenticeship is designed for individuals who are, or who aspire to be, professional senior managers with responsibility for the strategic leadership and direction of their organisation, division or department. The Apprenticeship is suitable for those working in the private, public and third sectors and for companies of any size.

To be eligible for the Senior Leader Apprenticeship, applicants must be in full-time employment with their employer and be working within England. They will normally need to occupy a senior management position for a minimum of two years and are looking to gain a further qualification to progress their career.

How it works

Apprentices are required to devote 20% of their normal working time to studying on the programme.
During this time, as an Apprentice you could be studying online modules, attending face-to-face sessions at University, completing an assignment, or meeting with a skills coach/mentor to develop your management and leadership qualities. Learning will focus on the practical application of theory in all aspects of management and will be driven by the latest theories and business practices. You will have the opportunity to base your assignments on your own workplace, giving you additional opportunities to practically apply knowledge and understanding.

Qualifications

Upon successful completion of the programme, an individual will be awarded:

  • Postgraduate Diploma Management Studies (Senior Business Leader)/(Arts and Culture Senior Business Leader)/(Healthcare Senior Business Leader)
  • Chartered Management Institute Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership
  • Chartered Manager of Chartered Management Institute
  • Senior Leader Apprenticeship (after an End Point Assessment)

Learners successfully completing one of the above programmes will be also able to progress to the Master’s in Business Administration (Senior Business Leader) top-up free of charge.

Fees and funding

For employers with a payroll below £3 million: The Government will pay 95% of the cost of the apprenticeship training and assessment for apprentices of any age, for employers who will not be paying the apprenticeship levy. You may also be eligible for extra employer incentives.

For employers with a payroll above £3 million: From May 2017 employers will be able to use their Apprenticeship Levy contributions towards the cost of the apprenticeship using their digital account. We will agree a payment schedule and discuss funding availability before you start your apprenticeships and ensure the cost to your business is clear upfront.

Entry Requirements

All applicants will need to be currently employed within the UK and be working or a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Academic Pathway:

For this apprenticeship programme we require applicants to have achieved one of the following admissions conditions

  • A degree classification of 2:2 or above is required, or equivalent.

Applicants who supply an equivalent international qualification or professional qualification will be assessed individually for suitability for entrance onto this course. If you are unsure if your previous qualifications are acceptable, please register your interest and we will be able to confirm if you are suitable for this course.

Work Experience Requirement:

You will be required to evidence two or more years of relevant managerial or supervisory work experience, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of the sector for the subject matter you are interested in pursuing.

You will provide a reference detailing your role(s) and responsibilities from your line manager, this would be requested after you have successfully applied.

If you hold 5 or more years of relevant managerial experience, then you may be eligible to join this course even if you haven’t achieved a degree qualification so please register your interest so we can support your application.

English and Maths:

All Applicants who have not yet achieved GCSE English Language and Maths at Grade 4 or above or an approved equivalent will be required to achieve these qualifications prior to taking the end-point assessment of your apprenticeship. At the University of Wolverhampton, we will enrol you free of charge on Functional Skill English and Maths at Level 2 to ensure you are able to achieve your apprenticeship qualification.
