As the country follows the Government roadmap out of lockdown, it is more important than ever that we keep our campuses safe.

All students and staff at the University of Wolverhampton are strongly encouraged to download and use the NHS Covid-19 app, launched in September 2020.

The app has a number of tools to protect its users, including contact tracing, information on local area restrictions and venue check-in.

What the app does

  • Trace - receive an alert if you've been near other users who have tested positive for coronavirus.
  • Check-in - check-in at venues and locations to receive an alert if you have visited somewhere you may have come into contact with coronavirus.
  • Symptoms - check if you have coronavirus symptoms and see if you need to order a free test.
  • Test - book a test and get your results.
  • Isolate - keep track of your seld-isolation countdown and access relevant guidance.

Please remember that you experience coronavirus symptoms or test positive; you must self-isolate immediately and follow the University's Covid-19 reporting procedures

New guidance

Updates have been made to the Covid-19 app to align with the changing requirements to self-isolation. App users identified as a close contact who confirm that they are double vaccinated or under 18 do not need to self-isolate and will be given the advice to book a PCR test.

If someone is called by NHS Test and Trace and told they are a contact, they will be asked their age and their vaccination status. If using the NHS Covid-19 app, people will be asked to self-declare if they are under 18 or double vaccinated.

Using the app on campus

Everyone accessing catering facilities, libraries or sports facilities on campus is encouraged check in with the NHS Covid-19 app or provide their name and contact details.

Providing the details of each person using these facilities will ensure that, if required, we can trace individuals who may have been a contact of a positive Covid-19 case. This will help reduce the risk of transmission of the virus on our campuses and ensure that the easing of lockdown restrictions can continue.

Visit our Safety on Campus webpage for more information.
