Library service over the summer

As we move into Semester 3 and the summer, some students will be undertaking resits, working hard on dissertations, and others will want to get a head start on their next academic year of studies.

The University libraries are open throughout the summer, and we will continue to provide you safe access to study space and support.

Browse & Borrow

It has been a long time, and whilst we love e-books, we know it's good to be able to browse the shelves and discover wider reading. We are pleased to welcome you back to explore our vast physical book collections once again!

As with all the library services that we are currently able to offer, you will need to follow all of the Staying Safe on Campus guidance and book a Browse & Borrow slot in advance of your arrival.

We have allowed 30-minute time slots that you can book onto at City, Walsall and Telford Campus libraries.

The self-service machines have been switched on to allow easy borrowing of any books. The machines have also been reconfigured to allow issuing only, which greatly reduces the need to touch the kiosk screens.

Please visit the Browse & Borrow webpage for more information, including how to book a slot.

Skills for Learning

Want help with study skills? The Skills for Learning team can provide support and advice to help you with academic writing, research skills, referencing and other academic skills.

The Skills team continues to deliver online support, including bookable workshops or one-to-one appointments, which you can book by email: skills@wlv.ac.uk

We have also introduced on-campus appointments at Harrison Library (City Campus) and with upcoming availability at Walsall and Telford Campus.

Visit the Skills for Learning webpage to request an on-campus appointment.

And don’t forget…

Library ASSIST - Wherever you are studying from, be it at home or on campus, remember that our Library ASSIST chat service is available 24/7.

Whatever time of day you find yourself studying - when you need a little help, know that you can chat live with a member of our support team or get support from qualified librarians around the clock.

Click and Collect - there's a wealth of online e-resources available to you via our catalogue, but if you prefer a print copy, we’ve got you covered.

Log in to LibrarySearch, find the item you want and then request the item for collection at any of the three main library sites. Our team will pick the book from our shelves and email you when it is ready to collect.
