Message from the Vice-Chancellor: University of Wolverhampton not affected by national strike action

Dear students,

I am writing to ensure that you are fully aware that the University of Wolverhampton will not be affected by the proposed strike and industrial action from the lecturers’ trade union (UCU).

It is important that you know that staff at the University will be working normally on those days and will not be taking part in any of the proposed strike action due to take place in December.

You may have seen in the news that three days of strike action is planned at some UK universities by academics and academic-related staff from Wednesday 1 December to Friday 3 December 2021.

91 out of 147 universities are due to be involved in the strike action in relation to pensions, pay and working conditions.  The University of Wolverhampton is not one of them.

Please be assured that we will be open as usual, and your learning and teaching will not be affected during this period.

Professor Geoff Layer

Vice-Chancellor
