About the Digital Library Platform Project

Born directly from student feedback, it was identified there was a need for improved access to library resources. The Digital Library Platform will bring about changes to three key areas of the University of Wolverhampton’s Library to improve services and encourage a more efficient and understood offering through better data use.

The first, a new Library Management System (LMS); bringing what was previously two systems (one to handle online and another to handle offline resources) together. The second, a fully integrated Resource List Mangement (RLM) system; housing information on modules/courses and linking that to information on the new LMS.

Lastly, the third, introducing RFID tagging to all resources; creating a more efficient library experience for staff and students alike. Read more about each arm of the project below.

The project works to provide a more ‘joined up’ library and resource management experience to all of those who interact with the facility and will also bring about policy changes to improve specific elements of interaction with key groups such as students and staff.

Replacing the previous resource finder/library catalogue, LibrarySearch acts as a 'one stop shop' for finding, checking stock and making reservations across our libraries.

Users can use LibrarySearch to find books/journals, search databases and access their Library account.

The implementation of RFID tagging within the library sees the replacement of the old barcode scanning technology used to loan/return books with a quicker, more efficient system. 

This will provide an improved user experience for both staff and students and improve facilities across all of our campuses.

With direct links to the LibrarySearch system, Leganto will change how academics create, manage and share their reading lists as well as how students access, interact and engage with their reading lists.
