Event for Shropshire start-ups and SMEs on leveraging IoT and Big Data

16/02/2021

SOLVD, an initiative run by the University of Wolverhampton and Telford and Wrekin Council, is running a second free Digital Technology event, this time focussing on the Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data and how these can help Shropshire start-ups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The speakers for the event on 26 February are Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Course Co-ordinator Dr Ali Sadiq, Postdoctoral Researcher Dr Samiya Khan, and Reader in Data Science Dr Ingo Frommholz.

Dr Khan said: “As the Covid-19 crisis has unfolded, products and services have been digitising at a rapid pace.

“Emergence of IoT and advancements in technology has caused an explosion of data; it’s not just limited to user and internet usage data anymore with sensors in different forms and shapes spanning the globe, collecting huge amounts of data, every second.

“IoT and Big Data empowers us to leverage the true value of available data in multi-faceted ways by allowing businesses to not just improve the operational efficiency of their processes, but also enhance customer relationships and experiences

“We’re providing this session so that local start-ups and SMEs aren’t left behind and encourage them to take advantage of the latest emerging digital technologies and fully funded support available to help them enhance their business productivity.”

During the session, attendees will learn more about IoT and Big Data, including their applications and how they can help businesses growth.

In addition there will be information on accessing University expertise and fully funded support to investigate and implement digital technologies in their businesses.

Bookings are being taken via Eventbrite: https://innovationiotandbigdata.eventbrite.co.uk

SOLVD is an ERDF funded project led by the University of Wolverhampton in partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council to support SMEs in Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire with the implementation of digital technologies.
