Leading legal figure receives honorary recognition

Suzanne Llewellyn, Chief Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service, has been awarded an honorary fellowship from the University of Wolverhampton in recognition of her work within the criminal justice system. 

Graduate of the University, Suzanne Llewellyn's career in the Crown Prosecution Service started in 1991, where she rose to the role of Deputy Crown Prosecutor for the West Midlands with a leading reputation in advocating for reform of women's rights, including human trafficking, domestic abuse, rape and sexual offences. In June 2021, Suzanne was appointed Chief Crown Prosecutor for Wessex. 

Suzanne received an Honorary Fellowship at a graduation ceremony at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre on Thursday, 16 September 2021.  

On receiving her award, Suzanne said: " I am honoured and privileged to receive this award. The University of Wolverhampton gave me the foundation and inspiration to follow a career in law, framed on protecting the most vulnerable in society and keeping our communities safe’.  

The University of Wolverhampton presents honorary awards to people who have made a significant contribution to their field of expertise.   

The University's graduation ceremonies take place at the Grand Theatre, Wolverhampton, from Thursday 9 September to Friday 17 September 2021.   

The 17 ceremonies will see over 3,000 students who completed their studies in 2020 collect their awards.   

It is the first time the University has held a graduation ceremony since December 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
