CLASS OF 2021: “Home is where the heart is” Angel shares her university experience

19/07/2022

Angel Morphew celebrates graduating with first-class honours at the University of Wolverhampton.

Along with the Class of 2021, Angel received her certificate last year and is celebrating her achievements during the July graduations taking place this week.

Angel, from Wolverhampton, originally chose to study away from home at another university but soon returned to the city to study BA (Hons) Sociology at the University of Wolverhampton after feeling more comfortable back on home ground.

Angel said: “I’m very happy that I’ve finally been able to graduate, it’s really nice just to be able to walk on the stage and say I’ve made it.

“It’s been a really good experience, I thought I’d want to go further afield when it came to going to university – but I soon realised; that home is where the heart is, and I felt a lot more comfortable being able to work during my studies and I knew I’d get the support I need here in Wolverhampton.”

Throughout her studies, Angel has taken every opportunity provided including volunteering for the Students’ Union which has led to her developing new skills and leading on interesting projects which have been key to career development.

The 23-year-old now works as the Diversity Officer at the Students’ Union, improving the student experience and leading projects to champion the University's inclusivity framework.

The University offers a wide range of things for you to be able to jump on to.”

Angel is currently continuing her education at the University, studying for a Masters’ Degree in Strategic People Management and Human Resources with an aim to stay local and obtain a role that will allow her to give something back to the community.
