CLASS OF 2021: Proud to be a Paramedic

24/07/2022

Paramedic graduate, Olivia Sheppard shares her experience at the University of Wolverhampton.

Olivia, who studied BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science, was inspired to study at the University following an Open Day.

After speaking to lecturers about her course, and touring the facilities at the University’s Walsall Campus, the 23-year-old says she knew it was the only place she wanted to be.

Olivia, from Cheslyn Hay, enjoyed the 50/50 balance of on-campus and off-campus learning; meaning she was able to develop practical skills and experience with West Midlands Ambulance Service as well as academic and theoretical experience at the University.

After completing her studies last year, Olivia successfully landed a full-time role as a Paramedic with West Midlands Ambulance Service.

“As soon as I came here the Open Day three years ago, felt a vibe that I just didn’t get at other universities and I knew then, that the University of Wolverhampton was for me.

“I’ve absolutely loved my time here, the hands-on learning during my work placement led me to my current role as a Paramedic which I’m really enjoying and looking to see what the future holds.”

“It’s incredible what she’s achieved, especially under the circumstances of the pandemic. She’s done extremely well and worked hard to get to where she is today.”
