I chose the University of Wolverhampton because of the friendly & warm reception to the minority population which was demonstrated not only by speculation but also by firmly backed policy

I teach courses in Materials Science, Biophysics, and Meteorology and Climate Science. I also research into the applications of zeolites produced from raw natural materials. I have established Zeolite Research Group comprising mostly Postgraduate (MPhil and PhD) students which has produced two PhDs recently.

Why did you choose the University of Wolverhampton for your doctoral studies?

I chose the University of Wolverhampton because of the friendly and warm reception to the minority population which was demonstrated not only by speculation but also by firmly backed policy. This was demonstrated when they advertised the PhD position which eventually saw me being chosen for the studentship.

What did you enjoy most about being a doctoral student at the University of Wolverhampton?

I enjoyed the tenacity and consistency of the supervision team. I also enjoyed working as a study skills advisor on a part-time basis.

What are you doing now and how did it prepare you for your current role?

I am now in Ghana, my native country, as a Senior Lecturer in the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana. The research work in Wolverhampton prepared me to establish my research direction and my team here in Ghana.

What tip would you give a new doctoral student?

He should always take the constructive criticisms by his/her supervision team wholly since those criticisms will prepare him/her for special duties. S/he should also make good use of the opportunities in University.
