Early Career Framework

What is the Early Career Framework reform?

The Early Career Framework (ECF) reforms will create a step-change in support for early career teachers, providing a funded entitlement to a structured 2-year package of high-quality professional development. The reforms are part of the government's teacher recruitment and retention strategy, which aims to improve the training and development opportunities available to teachers.

Designed in close partnership with teachers, headteachers, academics, the Chartered College of Teaching and the Education Endowment Foundation, the ECF itself underpins what all early career teachers should be entitled to learn about based on expert guidance and the best available research evidence.

It focuses on five key areas:

  • behaviour management
  • pedagogy
  • curriculum
  • assessment
  • professional behaviours

Capita and the University of Wolverhampton

The University of Wolverhampton has co-designed the content of the programme with the University of Birmingham and lead provider Capita to make sure that the course reflects our local situation and the challenges that ECT’s face in the local community  (Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell and Dudley and the surrounding areas).

Your school will have the opportunity to choose which lead partner to work with and they will need to register using the online form.
