Your Library This Christmas - Here When You Need Us

The festive season is here, and we know assessments and submissions are just around the corner. That’s why we’re pleased to let you know the library will be open on plenty of days over the Christmas break, giving you a quiet space to read, revise, or catch up on work.

Some services will run as usual, while others may have reduced availability, so it’s a good idea to check before you visit. Whether you’re finishing assignments, preparing for exams, or just need a calm spot away from the holiday rush, we’ll be here to help make your break productive and stress-free.

 

24/7 opening

This is a reminder that the 24/7 opening at Harrison Library, City Campus, will pause on Monday, December 15th.

24/7 will resume in the new year, running from Friday, January 2nd, through to Sunday, January 11th.

Opening hours from the 16th at City and Walsall will be:

Library availability over Christmas

The libraries will be open for many days over the festive period, providing safe access to study spaces, PCs, ability to borrow and return books. 

The on-site support at Harrison Library and Walsall Campus Library will be limited, and ID cards will be required to enter the library.

For access to the Hutchison Library, Telford Campus, you must register for Telford Extended Access by Tuesday, 23rd December. You should also download the SafeZone security app.

Help and Support

With the semester 1 assessment period looming, don't forget that you can still access a wealth of library support over the festive period, including from our Library Exam and Assessment Support pages for guidance and tips to get the best out of the assessment.

Support is also available online through Library Assist, where you can browse hundreds of knowledge articles and speak with a member of the library team or an international librarian 24/7, right across the festive period (even on Christmas day!).

Skills for Learning – Christmas break updates

The Skills for Learning service will be closed for the holidays from Wednesday, 24th December, until Monday, 5th January, but you can still access all of our study guides and video tutorials on our Canvas course https://www.wlv.ac.uk/lib/skills-for-learning/get-your-skills-badge
