As globalisation increases, more organisations have to work beyond their regional boundaries, compete in diverse global environments and find that their traditional domestic markets are open to global challenges. These organisations need experts who can work across multicultural barriers, develop effective international strategies, and source products internationally. This course will train you in these business key areas.

An interdisciplinary approach to global citizenship and will help you develop your understanding of complex notions in the international business environment. Your digital literacy skills will be improved through use of applications software employed by contemporary organisations.

Teaching

You will required to locate and evaluate appropriate digital information sources related to the modules on this course via Canvas, the virtual learning environment (VLE) used for teaching, and expected to participate in class and online forums and activities using this platform.

Student participation in a range of in-class and online discussions and activities is expected in order to consider theory and practice related to various topics in the modules taught on the course.

The international nature of this course means that you will be researching and discussing from a range of perspectives the theory and evidence in the context of global business and management. This will enable you to develop personal and professional values to help you play a substantial role in a global business environment.

Yearly content

The first year of the course is designed to provide you with a practical understanding of responsible business practices, facilitating business activities in a sustainable way that does not adversely impact the environment, and the need for digital transformation to support innovation and to continue to have a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

The second year of the course aims to introduce you to the complexity of the contemporary global business environment. You will be equipped with relevant skills to thrive within this environment. The knowledge and skills gained this year are in the areas of human resource management, accounting and bookkeeping, operations, supply chain, and project management. These skills are highly sorted after by employers. In this year, we begin to build your employability.

The third year of the course will be used to complete your training in becoming a versatile business manager with a high level of critical reasoning. You will be equipped with the knowledge and skills of strategic business planning and decision-making, using globalisation and international marketing to facilitate business success in an international context. You will also be required to put all the skill you have learned on the international business management course through the years into a practical business project to graduate.

  • A Levels - grades CCC / BCD
  • BTEC L3 Extended Diploma or OCR Cambridge L3 Technical Extended Diploma - grades MMM
  • BTEC L3 Diploma - grades DD
  • Access to HE Diploma (60 credits) of which a minimum of 45 must be at Level 3 (96 UCAS point equivalence, minimum 45 credits at merit)
  • T Levels with an overall grade of Pass and a minimum grade of C in Core.

Other Requirements

Students must usually have studied for a minimum of two years post GCSE level. However, we will consider applications from mature students who do not have two years of post-16 study, where they have relevant work experience. Please see http://wlv.ac.uk/mature for further information.
