After you have applied
Following submitting your application, here is a breakdown of the way we make our decisions, and what happens next.
Step 1 - Pre-offer
We may require you to provide further information to support your application. These might be copies of qualifications/certificates. In this case, we will contact you with details of what we need to see.
If you were born outside the UK, or entered the UK after the age of 10, we may need to assess your tuition fee status, to class you as a home or overseas student. If we request documentation to support your fee status assessment, we will notify you as soon as possible after receiving your application.
Some of our courses require you to attend an interview or portfolio review and depending on which course you have applied for, you could be asked to attend this either before offer or after a conditional offer.
Step 2 - Types of decisions
This means you must meet certain conditions. These may be based on achieving particular results, or non-academic conditions such as providing a satisfactory reference.
This means that you have met all the entry requirements, and have been accepted without any further conditions. However, there may be additional requirements, such as a DBS check or a health declaration.
If we cannot offer you a place on your chosen course, we will always try to and find a suitable alternative that may interest you. We will communicate this alternative offer via UCAS Track.
Unfortunately, this means that you did not meet the minimum entry requirements for the course, and we have had to reject your application because we were also unable to find a suitable alternative for you.
Step 3 - Responding to your offer
UCAS applicants can accept an offer as firm, which is your preferred choice, or insurance, which is your backup choice.
Direct applicants only need to confirm their intention to take up a place via e:Vision.
If you accept your conditional offer, this means you must meet the conditions before you get onto the course. For example, if one of the conditions is that you must provide a reference or proof of qualifications, then you will need to send this to us before we can fully offer you a place on the course you have applied for.
If you have applied for an undergraduate degree or postgraduate degree course at the University of Wolverhampton and are unsuccessful in gaining a place on your preferred course, we will always endeavor to make you an alternative offer for another suitable course. You must respond to this offer accordingly as explained under 'Accepting your offer' (see above).
Changing your alternative offer
Whilst we make every effort to choose an appropriate alternative offer course that we believe you will enjoy, we understand that we may not always get this right.
If you are not fully satisfied with the course that is offered to you, we can consider changing your offer to another course, providing you meet the entry requirements and there are places available. To do this, register for a callback and our friendly team of staff will contact you to advise further. Alternatively, contact our admissions department by logging a helpdesk call on your e:Vision account stating your full name, student number, and the course you would like to be considered for.
Please note you cannot request to change your offer to the course you had originally applied for.
If you want to defer your place until the next course intake, then you will need to formally request this. You can do this by contacting our Admissions team, by logging a helpdesk call on your e:Vision account stating your full name and student number. Please note that there are some courses that we are unable to defer offers for.
What if I don't achieve my grades or don't get any offers?
For UCAS applications, UCAS Extra allows you to make an extra choice on top of the five you are allowed.
For direct applications, there is no limit to how many courses you can apply for.
Please note you cannot apply for the same course, if you have been unsuccessful, in the same academic year.
Post-application and offer
Our Conversion Team works to support you from application through to enrolment. Once you become an applicant to the University you will have the opportunity to get in touch with them, attend applicant events, and much more.
