BSc (Hons) Psychology with Foundation Year

The British Psychological Society accredits this course and informs its content with the latest developments in vocational psychology. This accreditation allows you to enter Graduate Basis of Chartered Memberships within the Society upon graduation, drastically improving your employability. Course quality is further fuelled by staff knowledge – School of Psychology teachers being published experts in specialised and related fields – and partnerships with recognised bodies in teaching quality such as Advance HE. The course’s professional focus will ably prepare you for your own entry into these fields, complimented by frequent placement opportunities offered in on-campus and online services.

Our robust approach to student support, your studies seeing you mentored by enthusiastic personal tutors, will dramatically enhance your course progression, further collaboration with the University’s thriving research community fuelling a pronounced international focus in your curriculum. Research will make use of the University’s state-of-the-art facilities, including our mental health clinic, cyberpsychology research laboratory and psychological test library. Additional computer labs, observation rooms and extensive libraries will be available, all stocked with the latest equipment; virtual reality and eye-tracking hardware, psychometric tools and psychology-specific software will be employed throughout your course.

The course is part of the School of Psychology in the Faculty of Education, Health, and Wellbeing.  The School of Psychology is the professional home to over 50 teaching and research staff, bringing a broad range of interests and experience to benefit students learning on our portfolio of courses.  Our School is recognised as one of the leading providers of Psychology education, using innovative teaching methods which focus on the application of scientific and theoretical principles to the study of people’s lives. Prepare for Foundation Pathway:- We will consider applicants who have not achieved level 3 qualifications, if you have a keen interest in this subject area or hold relevant experience. You will be required to attend and pass a compulsory Prepare For Foundation assessment day where you will take part in a variety of activities which will assess your suitability for the course. Self-funding:

Your employer, embassy or organisation can pay for your Tuition fees:

If your employer, embassy or organisation agrees to pay all or part of your tuition fees; the University will refer to them as your sponsor and will invoice them for the appropriate amount.

We must receive notification of sponsorship in writing as soon as possible, and before enrolment, confirming that the sponsor will pay your tuition fees.

Financial Hardship:

Students can apply to the Dennis Turner Opportunity Fund.

for help with course related costs however this cannot be used for fees or to cover general living costs.
