Anthony Marsh
Visionary ambulance service leader delivering outstanding performance and national emergency resilience.
Anthony began his distinguished career in 1987 within patient transport services in Essex.
Over the years, he ascended through various senior roles, including Director of Operations in Greater Manchester, where he orchestrated ambulance coverage for the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
In 2006, he became Chief Executive of West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, leading the organisation to become one of the highest-performing ambulance services in England. Under his leadership, the Trust achieved an 'Outstanding' rating from the Care Quality Commission in both 2017 and 2019.
Beyond his executive role, he has contributed significantly to national emergency preparedness.
Anthony held the National Portfolio for Emergency Planning, Response, and Resilience, and served as the strategic ambulance advisor to the Department of Health and NHS England.
In recognition of his exceptional service, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science degree by the University of Wolverhampton in 2012.
