BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology)

This course is accredited by the National School of Health Care Science and Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists, organisations which you will receive passage to membership for by achieving your degree. Local healthcare practices also provide input into course content and student development, collaborating with us to inform your curriculum on real-world hospital department practice. The long-standing nature of these partnerships ably demonstrates the University of Wolverhampton’s aptitude for delivering healthcare science courses.

School of Sciences teaching staff aim to provide compelling learning opportunities led by research, scholarly activity and relevant development, employing their specialised skills in the rollout of coursework. We are also keen to involve patients and the wider public in this course, ensuring that information delivered is of utmost relevance. Through the resources available at the University’s Centre for Engineering Innovation and Research, you will make use of specialist techniques and tools necessary for employment or further training upon graduation.

Skills developed on this course encompass specialised and broader concepts in healthcare, enhancing your employability across numerous professions. Your knowledge will cover anatomical structure, cell structure, human body development and disease processes, studied on a level necessary for medical practice in cardiac physiology. Core principles of physics will also be researched, an education provided through embedded practical activities and in-depth theoretical investigation. Professional conduct is encouraged and enforced in this process, stressing the importance of communication, safety, ethics and research. These values will inform your career progression in any area of your choosing.

All students being accepted onto the course will need to have been selected for a hospital placement through selection interviews which involve a formal skills-based assessment prior to admission

GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C/4+ will be required.   No equivalences are accepted.

 

The Faculty operates a Gathered Field policy in processing interview results for this course. The result of interviews will be released in mid-March.

Applicants who are classed as ‘overseas’ for fee purposes (https://www.ukcisa.org.uk/Information--Advice/Fees-and-Money/Home-or-Overseas-fees-the-basics) will still be considered as long as their country of domicile is the United Kingdom and do not require sponsorship for a Student Visa or are in the UK on a Skilled Worker visa.

"Accredited by the NSHCS (National School of Health Care Science), on behalf of Health education England, for the purpose of eligibility for registration as a Health-care Science Practitioner on the AHCS (Academy for Healthcare and Science) voluntary accredited register."

Tuition Fees Loan (Home Fee Status):

Self-funding:

Your employer, embassy or organisation can pay for your Tuition fees:

If your employer, embassy or organisation agrees to pay all or part of your tuition fees; the University will refer to them as your sponsor and will invoice them for the appropriate amount.

We must receive notification of sponsorship in writing as soon as possible, and before enrolment, confirming that the sponsor will pay your tuition fees.

Financial Hardship:

Students can apply to the Dennis Turner Opportunity Fund.

for help with course related costs however this cannot be used for fees or to cover general living costs.
