Join an Anglo-Ukrainian all-star cast for the presentation of Writing under Fire, a collection of prose and poetry that reflects on Russia’s war against Ukraine.

On Saturday 3 February, the English team will launch a very special book. Writing under Fire: Poetry and Prose from Ukraine and the Black Country is a collection with 10 writers from Ukraine who meditate on the Russian war against their country.

10 writers from the Black Country write back to them in order to establish a transcultural and transnational dialogue that aims to support the Ukrainian people and, especially, their artists and writers. The proceeds of the book – which is dedicated to the contributing writer Victoria Amelina who died last July after a Russian air strike - will go directly to Ukrainian writers and readers.

At the event, Ukrainian writers including Liudmila Taran, Roksolana Zharkova, Tetiana Belimova and Rostyslav Melnikiv will read from their work and Kerry Hadley-Pryce, Carmel Doohan, Rob Francis and Kuli Kohli will respond with literary ripostes.

To find out more, join us in the Georgian Gallery, Wolverhampton Art Gallery, on Saturday 3 February at 6.30pm.
