Volunteering Week 2026: Making a Difference in the Green Innovation Corridor
As part of Volunteering Week 2026, the Careers, Employability & Success Team delivered a week of activities designed to connect students with volunteering opportunities and ways to make a positive impact in their communities. From Micro Volunteering Monday and volunteering advice sessions to a pop-up volunteering fair, students were able to discover a variety of ways to get involved.
To round off the week, the team partnered with the Students’ Union, Sustainability Team and student volunteers for a community litter pick within Wolverhampton’s Green Innovation Corridor (GIC). Volunteers spent the morning clearing litter along the canal route, working from the city centre towards the Science Park, helping to improve one of the key areas at the heart of the city's regeneration plans.
The activity highlighted how students can play an active role in supporting the GIC's vision of creating a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Wolverhampton, while making a visible difference to the local environment.
Together, we're not just building careers – we're helping build a greener Wolverhampton.
