Beyond Barriers:  Disability & Vision Awareness

At the University of Wolverhampton, the Accessibility, Disability & Inclusion team proudly hosted a special event to mark National Disability History Month. This inspiring day brought together staff, students, and external guests to celebrate diversity, build community, and amplify lived experiences from across our university and beyond.

Beyond Barriers was created to shine a light on the realities and strengths of individuals with disabilities, particularly those living with sight loss, while showcasing the wide range of support available both within the University and through external organisations. From practical resources to personal stories, the event highlighted how accessibility and inclusion benefit everyone.

By providing a space for open dialogue, collaboration, and learning, the event aimed to break down barriers, challenge perceptions, and empower our community to embrace accessibility as a shared responsibility. Together, we explored how celebrating differences can lead to stronger connections and a more inclusive future.

The talks from the day will be shared soon. In the meantime, you can watch our highlight video above capturing the energy and impact of the event.
