University appoints four new Independent Governors, strengthening Board expertise
The University has appointed four new Independent Governors to its Board, bringing significant experience across higher education leadership, digital transformation, public service, governance and regional economic development.
The new Governors enhance the breadth of skills available to the University, strengthening the Board’s ability to provide independent challenge and strategic guidance as the institution continues to deliver its long‑term ambitions.
Andrew Boggs brings more than 25 years’ senior leadership experience in higher education in the UK and Canada. A specialist in university regulation and governance, his career includes senior roles at the University of Oxford and University Secretary positions at several London universities. A published author and sector commentator, he offers deep insight into governance best practice, policy and institutional leadership.
Mark Reynolds adds highly specialist expertise in digital transformation and digital health, with senior experience across the NHS and private sector. A former Chief Technology Officer at NHS Digital and InHealth Group, he led national technology delivery for key Covid‑19 programmes and brings strong capability in technology‑enabled change, data and innovation.
Anil Majithia strengthens the Board with extensive board‑level leadership experience across education and the voluntary sector. A highly experienced Chair, Non‑Executive Director and Trustee, his expertise spans governance, finance, audit, risk and organisational transformation, with current and past roles across further and higher education institutions.
Mike Waters brings over 30 years’ experience in public service, civic leadership and large‑scale transformation programmes in the West Midlands. A long‑serving member of the West Midlands Combined Authority Executive Board, his expertise includes digital transformation, policy development, audit and compliance, and oversight of major investment programmes, alongside a strong focus on regional economic and social regeneration.
