University opens new Podiatry Clinic to support community foot health and train future Podiatrists
On Wednesday 18 March the University opened a newly developed, public-facing Podiatry Clinic on campus, strengthening both local healthcare provision and high-quality clinical training for students.
Located within the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing, the clinic marks a renewed investment in hands-on clinical learning for podiatry students while offering accessible and affordable foot health services to the local community.
James Dale, Head of School of Health and Wellbeing, University of Wolverhampton said:
“The opening of the new University podiatry clinic marks an important milestone in the institution’s commitment to delivering its 2035 strategy, which focuses on creating opportunity, developing people, and shaping the future.
Located within the university’s clinical training facilities, the clinic will provide supervised, hands-on learning opportunities for podiatry students while delivering high-quality foot and lower-limb care to the public. By integrating clinical practice with academic learning, the facility aims to enhance student training through real-world patient experience.
I would personally like to thank the podiatry team; Tish, Danielle, Adam and Rachel for their hard work and dedication in delivering this exciting project, which will benefit both University students and the local community.”
A brand-new, public-facing clinic for the community
The clinic is a newly developed facility designed to provide high-quality foot care to the public. Although clinical teaching has long been part of the podiatry programme, this dedicated clinic represents a strengthened commitment to community healthcare and student clinical development.
How to book an appointment
Members of the public will be able to book appointments directly by calling the clinic booking line on 07814 304 009, which is open Mondays between 9am and 5pm. General enquiries can be directed to podiatryclinic@wlv.ac.uk. The service offers affordable and accessible care for a wide range of foot health concerns.
Why the clinic was developed
The new clinic forms an essential part of podiatry training, providing the supervised clinical hours required for students to gain professional registration. With programme growth and increasing demand for clinical experience, the University has now invested to bring the facility to fruition.
Enhancing student learning while supporting local health needs
Developed by the podiatry programme team, the clinic aims to:
- Bring podiatry services closer to the community
- Provide accessible and affordable treatment
- Offer preventative care that supports mobility and wellbeing
- Give students high-quality, supervised hands-on experience essential for HCPC professional registration
Students will work directly with patients under the supervision of qualified podiatrists, strengthening clinical reasoning, communication skills, and practical competencies.
