University alumnus Chef Eros named host of MasterChef Nigeria
The University is celebrating the global success of alumnus Chef Tolulope ‘Eros’ Erogbogbo’s appointment as a host and judge on MasterChef Nigeria.
Chef Eros, widely known as ‘The Billionaire Chef’ graduated in 2009 with a BA (Hons) International Business Management, and has built an internationally recognised career that bridges entrepreneurship, culinary innovation and cultural storytelling. His latest role places him at the forefront of one of the world’s most prestigious cooking competition franchises, as the Nigerian edition brings the globally successful MasterChef format to Africa’s largest nation.
Chef Eros said: “Becoming a judge on MasterChef Nigeria is more than a personal milestone, it’s an opportunity to help shape how African cuisine is seen, understood, and respected on a global stage. For me, it’s about mentoring the next generation of chefs while celebrating the depth, creativity, and cultural richness of our food.”
MasterChef Nigeria is expected to attract a significant audience, showcasing the richness and diversity of Nigerian cuisine to viewers both locally and internationally. As a host and judge, Chef Eros will mentor contestants, set culinary challenges and help define the standard of excellence for emerging chefs, reinforcing his position as a leading voice in modern African gastronomy.
His journey began during his time as a student in the UK, where he launched his first food venture selling fried chicken to fellow students - an early sign of the entrepreneurial drive that would shape his career. He has since established a portfolio of successful ventures including Eros & Gourmet, Cookie Jar and his flagship fine-dining concept, Ilé Eros in Lagos, which has earned international recognition for its innovative approach to Nigerian cuisine.
Chef Eros has become known for reimagining traditional African dishes with contemporary techniques, earning him the nickname ‘The Billionaire Chef’ for his ambition to export African culture through food. His work has received global attention, with Ilé Eros featured among leading new restaurants worldwide and his clientele including internationally renowned figures such as Shonda Rhimes and Michael B. Jordan.
