American winter wonderland
Pia Gilland completed her second year as a LLB Law student at the University of Wolverhampton Law School this year. She is currently undertaking a year-long placement in Northern Arizona University (NAU) in America through the University’s exchange scheme with a number of European and American universities.
In this blog she reflects on settling back into her classes and experiencing the American winter.
Settling back into classes after the winter break has been very chilly! With midterms already approaching, this term is going unbelievably fast. We escaped for a mini weekend break in Chandler, Arizona to my flatmate's family home which is a lot warmer than Flagstaff.
I have now added to my American experience by having pancakes around an American family table, meeting her parents and brother and her little dog, Cheuy. Who knew there were so many types of cacti, my favourite being the Grizzlybear Pricklypear.
Myself and Eve can also now both say we were here when the record 3ft snow fall happened, and we definitely made the most of it. With classes cancelled for the first time in years we ventured out into our own wintery wonderland. It's not long until Spring Break, only two weeks left, until our Californian adventure.
The weeks will start to fly by after that, assignment deadlines and finals in amongst our trip to Vegas and Washington DC a month before we get on our 10 hour flight home.
Better get my head down ...
