Investigate disease. Support diagnostics. Contribute to the future of healthcare.
Biomedical Science is the laboratory science behind modern medicine — the discipline that turns a blood sample into a diagnosis, and a research question into a treatment breakthrough. At the University of Wolverhampton, our BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science degree gives you a direct route into this world: an Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) accredited course, hands-on laboratory training from day one, and a supportive learning environment built for students who want a career that matters — in the NHS, in research, or across the wider life sciences sector.
Whether you're aiming to become a registered Biomedical Scientist, move into pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, or use science as a springboard into medicine or postgraduate research, this course gives you the practical skills, scientific knowledge and professional confidence to get there.
Please note: If you are interested in completing a placement year in an NHS laboratory or aim to pursue a career as a Biomedical Scientist, you would be strongly advised to join the course in September rather than January. Students joining the programme in January cannot be considered for an NHS laboratory placement year.

This course is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS).
