Course Modules
This module will introduce you to various philosophies and theoretical concepts of management with a focus on 21st century developments and real-life scenarios that managers face. A range of themes will be explored including; social responsibility, ethics, globalisation, international cultures, technology and entrepreneurship.
This module is designed to introduce you to digital exploration and sustainability. Along the way, you will develop digitally focused academic and professional skills which will equip you to be efficient, inquisitive and enquiring in your studies. As well as digital technologies and applications relevant to your subject, you will explore tools and platforms available to support your broader academic studies. Awareness of digital ethics and safety, particularly in relation to emerging and evolving tools such as generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI), will also be explored, used and experimented with. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be the subject of your learning and assessment journey, and throughout the module you will apply your digital skills to discover what the SDGs are, their aspirations for global challenges and inequalities, and their impact on you, your society and future professional aspirations.
This module is your first step into the fascinating world of legal study. You will explore what law is, why it matters, and how it shapes society. Together, we will look at the English legal system, key sources of law, and the skill of legal problem solving. You will also develop essential academic and legal skills that will prepare you for success on your degree. By the end of this module, you will not only understand the foundations of what law is but you will also start to think and act like a law student.
This module focuses on the role and responsibilities of people working for themselves, or in organisations, situated within real world business contexts. This module will provide you with an introduction to leadership and management concepts, where you will explore the dynamic external and internal factors that influence organisational success. Alongside these core concepts, you will define and explore definitions of, and essential management functions that contribute to effective leadership. A significant focus is placed on developing your academic and digital skills through the practical application of knowledge to real world business leadership and management case studies. You will learn to research, structure, and construct a case analysis using appropriate digital tools. Finally, a critical component of the module involves self-reflection encouraging you to assess your strengths, identify areas for development, and align these insights with potential roles and career in business and management.
This module is designed to introduce you to university life. It will support you in exploring the university environment. It will also introduce you to the wide variety of academic skills needed to succeed at university and will support you in the development of these skills.
This module will introduce you to the university environment and you will explore strategies for successful university-level study. You will be encouraged to explore your course and how it will support your future career aspirations. Throughout the module, you will establish your own personal development plan (PDP), identifying your personal strengths and areas for development, and setting targets to promote your academic and personal development and develop the resilience needed to achieve your goals. The second part of the module will introduce you to the wide variety of academic skills needed to succeed at university and enable you to develop and apply these skills. This will include: 1. how to write in an academic style, 2. how to structure essays and reports, 3. reading for academic purposes, 4. referencing skills. By the end of the module, you will have a clear understanding of the craft of academic writing and the standard of written work expected at university.
This module aims to provide you with an introduction to the general environment in which businesses operate. Through studying this module you will develop an understanding of the contemporary debates on the nature and management of modern enterprises. The module covers internal and external aspects of business – such as people at work, marketing, financial information and operations.
In this module, you will work collaboratively with other students on a project that reflects an area of shared interest relating to the broad themes of Business, Law or the Social Sciences. You will have the opportunity to work as a small team to devise, design and plan a project relating to a topic of shared interest. In many aspects of life and work, teamwork and collaboration are the norm to solve real world-problems. This group-based project will allow you to develop a range of skills, including leadership skills, time-management, negotiation, communication, creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills. By investigating and responding to a complex question, challenge or problem, you and your group will acquire a deeper knowledge of your topic. The module will conclude with a conference, where your group’s project will be presented to the other groups in your class.
The module has been designed to maximise student engagement, understanding of the law and promote skills and employability. Students will acquire knowledge in the area of Contract Law and develop practical and employability skills through face-to-face teaching, online activities and collaboration with peers. The learning and teaching approach of the module will give the opportunity for students: • To consolidate information taught and test immediate knowledge retention. • To gain a deeper understanding of legal issues through critical analysis and application of content. • To develop and reflect on the acquisition of legal and employability skills The module may provide students with the opportunity to be awarded digital badges for different skills and employability activities. Badges may be awarded for the completion of tasks and/or for completion of a self-directed series of activities. Once the tasks have been competed students will be awarded a digital badge that can be shared on portfolio websites such as LinkedIn. Students will be able to share the badges with prospective employers by adding them to a C.V. The module satisfies the requirement of the Bar Standards Board that a qualifying law degree covers the seven foundations of legal knowledge. This module introduces you to the foundations of enterprise and entrepreneurship, exploring what it means for individuals to think entrepreneurially and for businesses to act in an enterprising way. You will examine key theories and perspectives on creativity, innovation and enterprise, developing an understanding of how these ideas shape opportunities and drive success. You will be encouraged to question where ideas come from, how they are generated and the role of different people in turning ideas into reality. Through interactive activities and discussions, you will explore practical tools and approaches that help identify, develop and implement new ideas. By the end of the module, you will not only have gained knowledge of the essentials of enterprise and entrepreneurship but also gain confidence in applying them to your own studies, career ambitions and wider experiences. This will provide you with a solid foundation for further learning in entrepreneurship, innovation and business management at higher levels of study. The module uses globally relevant examples and activities so that students from a range of cultural and professional backgrounds can see the value and applicability of entrepreneurial thinking in their own contexts.

This extended induction module supports your transition into university life and introduces you to the requirements of academic skills. It helps you build confidence, develop a strong academic identity, and understand the expectations of university study. You’ll explore key academic practices including independent learning, digital literacy, and ethical academic conduct—such as referencing, plagiarism awareness, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in line with university policy. You will also be introduced to some of the tools and databases relevant for your studies. The module is structured around seven themes identified by students as essential to their university experience: Ready to Study: Clear guidance on expectations, transitions, and workload planning. Academic Skills and Educational Gain: Development of foundational academic skills including time management, critical thinking, and digital fluency. Career Readiness and Professional Identity: Early exploration of career pathways, CV building, and professional behaviours. Personal Development and Belonging: Activities that foster confidence, inclusion, and identity within the university community. Social Engagement and Community Building: Opportunities to connect with peers, staff, and wider university life. Feedback and Reflective Practice: Structured opportunities to receive, apply, and reflect on feedback to support growth. Wellbeing and Student Support: Embedded access to holistic support services and strategies for success. This module lays the foundation for future development, including the Level 5 Professional Development module/embedded placement experiences.
This module will introduce students to responsible business practices with an emphasis on professional, moral and personal responsibility. This module will encourage the development of personal and professional development skills and self-reflection as a personal development tool.
As awareness of climate change, resource scarcity, environmental impact and social inequality rises, businesses are being held increasingly to account by consumers, governments and stakeholders. This module will introduce students to concepts of sustainability within a range of Business contexts.
On completion of this module students should be able to understand the nature and structure of the different business structures/media (sole traders, partnerships and companies). Students will become familiar with business organisations, and more specifically an understanding of the corporate entity. Students should be able to select an appropriate business medium/structure to meet the client's commercial requirements. Students will be encouraged to communicate effectively to demonstrate knowledge of legal rules and principles. The module may provide students with the opportunity to be awarded digital badges for different skills and employability activities. You will explore how different leadership and management styles affect key areas such as human resource practices, team dynamics, and change management. In addition to analysing theory, the module encourages you to apply relevant concepts to real-world situations, helping you build confidence to lead and manage effectively in diverse workplace settings. A key part of the module is reflective practice, which supports your personal and professional development. You will be encouraged to think critically about your own leadership style, strengths, and areas for growth, and to consider how your approach can adapt to different organisational cultures and challenges. Whether you are aiming to move into a leadership or role, or strengthen your current position, this module equips you with the tools to make a meaningful impact in your organisation. It’s ideal for students who want to combine academic insight with practical skills that are valued by employers.
The aim of this module is to introduce a range of financial and accounting concepts that will help business students improve their understanding and decision-making skills. You will develop an awareness of how finance operates within organisations and how financial information is used to support business planning and control. The module covers understanding and interpreting financial statements, exploring entrepreneurial and corporate finance, and recognising how budgets contribute to managing and evaluating performance. Learning activities use business-based scenarios to help you interpret financial information and consider appropriate financial decisions. This module is designed to build your confidence and credibility in understanding financial information and to strengthen your ability to engage with financial aspects of management within a range of organisational contexts.

Students will acquire knowledge in the area professional and practical through face-to-face teaching, online activities and completion of a practical activity. This module explores the customer journey from prospect or enquiry to loyal customer or advocate. In this module, students will learn about the marketing strategies and tactics involved in attracting new customers and keeping them. Research suggests it can cost between 5 and 10 times as much to acquire a new customer as it does to retain an existing customer, with the commonly quoted average being 7 times more expensive to acquire a new customer. So why do so many companies spend more time chasing new customers than keeping existing ones? This is the paradox of customer retention and acquisition. This module will enable students to understand the role of customer acquisition and retention in designing contemporary marketing strategies for organisations. Students will gain practical experience of planning marketing campaigns designed to attract, win and retain customers.
The aim of this module is to provide an introduction of a range of financial and accounting skills to the business students, which will help their understanding and managerial decision making skills. Learners will evaluate the organisation’ financial statements, identify the principles for setting and managing budgets and understand finance within the organisation. This module has been designed to enhance the learner’s confidence and credibility in financial management, which will translate into improved management skills
The aim of this module is to develop students’ understanding of management and leadership principles, and to explore the influence various leadership and management approaches have on key Human Resource Management functions, including Change Management. Through the study of emerging leadership concepts, such as super-leadership, students will develop an appreciation for the development of self as a method to support others in their development. Reflective practice underpins the module to support students in assessing their own approach to learning and development.
This module gives you the skills to turn data into powerful business insights. You’ll explore how organisations use analytics and intelligence to make smarter decisions, improve performance, and stay competitive. Starting with the basics of information systems and business analytics, you’ll build up to advanced techniques like predictive modelling, artificial intelligence, and decision support. You will learn how data is collected, integrated, and stored through data warehousing, and how to evaluate Business Intelligence platforms and architectures. We will also consider the ethical and legal issues around data use, and how to manage analytics systems responsibly. By the end of the module, you will be able to design analytics strategies, apply descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive techniques, and understand the future of analytics in business. You’ll use real-world examples and case studies to connect theory with practice, preparing you for roles in data-driven decision-making. Whether you’re aiming for a career in business management, marketing, business intelligence, business analytics, or strategic planning, this module equips you with the tools to lead with insight.

It will introduce the key themes Employers need to be aware of in order to comply with their obligations and act within the law. It will explore current issues from time to time for example dealing with underperformance, absenteeism and related contractual matters within the legal framework. Major topics for example dismissal and discrimination and rights within the workplace will also be covered.
Intellectual property is relevant to all who create or innovate. Students will acquire knowledge in intellectual property law, which regulates the use, creation and protection of creative works and inventions. The module focuses on current issues in this fast-developing area, through a social justice lens, considering the perspectives of multiple stakeholders. The module has been designed to maximise student engagement, understanding of the law and promote research skills and employability. Through face-to-face teaching, online activities, and collaboration with their peers, students will acquire relevant knowledge and develop their research, transferable and employability related skills. The ability to effectively communicate with all internal and external stakeholders is key for business leaders. The business environment is in constant flux and it is important to be able to navigate this space, whilst building relationships and networks. This module will explore key communication and human resources theories and provide students with the tools to assess and develop their own communication skills.
This ultimate module provides students with the opportunity to undertake an independent study that blends learning from previous subjects. It is designed to showcase individual strengths and apply advanced knowledge to a practical business context. Students will create a professional business project that demonstrates their ability to address real-world challenges or opportunities. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, problem-solving, research planning, data analysis and professional communication skills. By completing this module, students will demonstrate autonomy, innovation and the ability to integrate theory with practice - key attributes for advancing in professional and managerial roles.
The Professional Project capstone module is an independent study unit. Students will be able to draw together learning form their previous subjects, focusing on their key strengths, in the production of a business artefact. Alongside the artefact students will develop a written critical reflection, which is designed elucidate their rational for choice of artefact and reflect on the process of its production and dissemination.
The strategic business module will equip students with the knowledge required to make strategic decisions at both a corporate and functional level. Students will also develop the skills required to evaluate the success of implemented strategy within an organisational context. This will inform decision making at a corporate and functional level.
This module is designed to maximise student engagement, enhance legal research skills, and promote employability. Students can choose to complete a written research project or a practical law volunteering project providing legal advice, or any other approved placement involving legal practice. The supervised law research project and the volunteering project will both foster digital literacy and academic writing skills. The volunteering project will require a minimum period of engagement, interviewing clients, researching client issues and producing written advice to the client. Both the research project and the volunteering project will include a reflection. The module will provide students with a structured framework for developing research methodologies necessary to advise a client on practical legal issues and carry out academic legal research, develop the ability to critical analyse, and enhance professional writing techniques. The learning and teaching approach of the module will give the opportunity for students: To learn advanced research methodologies and techniques, to understand digital literacy skills for academic and professional contexts, consolidate knowledge of academic writing and critical analysis, develop project management and independent study skills. Students may be awarded digital badges for completing research tasks, which can be showcased on professional platforms like LinkedIn to enhance career prospects.

Prepare for Foundation Pathway:- We will consider applicants who have not achieved level 3 qualifications, if you have a keen interest in this subject area or hold relevant experience. You will be required to attend and pass a compulsory Prepare For Foundation assessment day where you will take part in a variety of activities which will assess your suitability for the course.
