This is the same CSFS-accredited BSc (Hons) Forensic Science with Policing degree taught at the University of Wolverhampton — restructured around a full sandwich year, so instead of short, embedded placement experiences, you complete one extended, 60-credit period working in a real forensic or policing environment before returning to finish your degree. If you want to graduate with a genuine year of professional experience already on your CV, not just a placement module, this is the version of the course built for that.
- A whole year, not a placement module. Your third year is a dedicated 60-credit Sandwich Placement (Life Sciences) module — a full academic year in the workplace, sitting between your Level 5 and Level 6 studies, rather than a placement squeezed alongside coursework.
- Named routes into West Midlands Police specifically. Through schemes such as Project Blue-Line, the University has an established track record of placing students directly with West Midlands Police, alongside placement opportunities with West Midlands Police's Forensic Science Support Service.
- The same accreditation and academic content as the standard degree. Your modules, learning outcomes and CSFS accreditation are identical to the three-year course — you're not trading academic depth for workplace experience, you're adding the second to the first.
- A recognised boost to degree outcomes. Students who complete substantial work experience and develop strong independent learning skills through a placement year often go on to achieve higher degree classifications.
- Built-in progression from day one. The Level 4 induction module and Level 5 professional development module are explicitly designed to lay the groundwork for your placement year, so you arrive at your sandwich year already prepared, not thrown in unprepared after two years of lectures.
