To apply for Turing funding you must be a current student at the University of Wolverhampton.

We consider all applications especially students who:

• are not on a degree programme that includes a year or semester abroad
• have not previously received support or funding from the University of Wolverhampton to go abroad.
• you are care-experienced (this will need to be registered with Student Finance)
• you are an estranged student (this will need to be registered with Student Finance)
• you have caring responsibilities
• you are a refugee or asylum seeker
• you receive Universal Credit (note that you must be the recipient, not a partner or family member)
• you are a mature student
• you are a Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic student
• you are a part-time student (this does not include supplementary years)
• you have a disability or special educational need (this will need to be registered with Disability Services)
• your home address is in an area of low progression to higher education (I.e your postcode is listed as Quintile '1' or '2' on the POLAR4 measure on the POLAR checking tool )

Your chosen study, work or volunteer opportunity must:

• be at least 4 weeks long
• not be in your home country
• must take place in-person (hybrid or remote positions will not be considered)

Where can I go with the Turing Scheme?

The Turing Scheme is fully international and allows participants to travel anywhere in the world, as long as foreign travel advice provided by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) (available here) is adhered to. Students, learners and pupils should contact their education provider to find out what funding is available via the Turing Scheme.

How do I find a suitable study or placement opportunity?

The University of Wolverhampton does not source a traineeship for you. Rather this is an opportunity to receive additional funding for an eligible traineeship which you have researched and secured independently.

How much will Turing give me towards my mobility?

Funding criteria

To be eligible for funding via the Turing Scheme, traineeships must:

• take place in an eligible destination country, ie that is safe for travel according to the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Officer.  You cannot receive funding for traineeships taking place in the UK or in your home country.
• be at least 30 days duration.
• be full-time, applicable to the type of work
• be relevant to your subject area.

Study exchange and traineeship opportunities can be funded under the UK Government's new Turing Scheme. Please see the Turing Scheme website for the latest grant rates. You should note that additional funding is available for students from low-income backgrounds, and for students with additional support needs.
