Your Responsibilities as an International Student
Before you start Your Course
The University of Wolverhampton must verify your documents and eligibility before sponsoring your Student Route Visa.
As an international student, you must:
- Understand the visa application process and requirements.
- Meet visa eligibility criteria, including finances and qualifications.
- Attend your visa interview and be ready to discuss your course and study plans.
- Read the University’s policies.
- Request your CAS number and apply for your visa early to avoid delays.
- Inform the University of your visa decision as soon as you receive it.
CAS Request Deadline & Priority Visa Services
- The CAS request deadline is set by Admissions-submit your request on time!
- Once you receive your CAS, apply for your visa. If you apply too late, you may have to defer your application.
- Some countries offer a priority visa service (faster processing for an extra fee). Check UKVI processing times.
Warning: If you apply too late and miss your course start date, your visa and place on the course may be refused. You may not be eligible for a deposit refund or reapplication.
Refund & Visa Refusal Policies
International students must pay a deposit, which is refundable, except in cases where:
- Fraudulent documents/statements are submitted.
- A student receives a visa, arrives in the UK, but fails to enrol.
Visa refusals are reviewed case by case by the Student Visa Compliance and Advice team. A second CAS statement is not always granted. Please see the Visa decision, refusal and refund policy.
Visa Application Outcome
Once you receive your visa, check it carefully:
- Ensure your visa states Student Visa, not 'Student Visitor' or other category.
- Report errors to visa-enquiries@wlv.ac.uk immediately.
- Notify the university straight away.
Inform the University of your visa outcome as soon as possible! If your visa is refused, provide a full copy of the refusal letter to RTS@wlv.ac.uk, so we can review your options.
