Introduction
If you are not a UK national and are subject to UK immigration control, you will likely need to apply to the University for a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) under the Student Route, provided you are eligible.
The type of visa required and the application process will depend on factors such as your course type, duration, and other eligibility criteria.
As part of your application, you must:
- Ensure you have sufficient funds (you must always be ready to show proof of funds held for 28 days, regardless of the course you're applying for or how long you've been in the UK, as this may be requested by the university as part of our pre-CAS checks).
- Apply for your visa as soon as you get your CAS (if applicable)
- Pass any health checks required for entry into the UK
- Inform the university visa team of any visa updates/visa decision straight away - Upload your visa documents on eVision, including your sharecode which begins with the letter S
Once you are granted visa sponsorship, you will have a number of visa responsibilities to maintain. These include:
- Providing all visa documents to the Student Visa Compliance and Advice team
- Enrolling each year on eVision and completing your face to face ID check
- Logging your attendance on your Student Check In
- Keeping your UK contact details up to date
- Paying your fees on time (failure to do so means you cannot re-enrol and will not be eligible for the Graduate Route)
Please note it is at the discretion of the CAS issuance and visa compliance team to decide whether to issue or continue CAS sponsorship at any point in the application or student journey.
