University proud to sponsor Pride
The University of Wolverhampton proudly sponsored Wolverhampton Pride 2026 along with businesses and civic partners, joining thousands of people across the city to celebrate equality, diversity and inclusion.
Held on Saturday 6 June, the event saw around 1,000 people take part in the vibrant Pride parade, followed by more than 5,000 attendees gathering in West Park for a day of celebration.
Two members of University staff – Josh Gulrajani, Director of Performance, Quality and Impact and Dr Helen Keane, Co-Chair of the University’s LGBTQ+ Staff Network – represented the institution as speakers during the event.
Dr Helen Keane said: “As someone who has grown up in Wolverhampton, I know that the city has always been a place of grit, heart, and community. But Pride brings something more: a city of visible, unapologetic joy. Seeing this crowd, seeing the colours, and feeling the energy reminds me that progress is not just about policy or numbers; it is about people coming together to say that everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and celebrated exactly as they are.”
Josh Gulrajani added: “Pride is a moment to celebrate visibility, community, and progress. It is also a powerful reminder of the importance of creating spaces where people feel recognised, respected, and able to be themselves. These are values that sit firmly at the heart of our university.”
The University has a longstanding role as a sponsor and partner of Wolverhampton Pride, working closely with organisers to promote visibility, inclusion and community engagement.
