Make history - help rename the future home of the School of Creative Industries
Students, alumni, and the wider community are being asked to make their mark on history by helping rename the Housman Building – the soon-to-be creative hub for the School of Creative Industries at University of Wolverhampton.
Set to reopen in 2027 as a sector-leading space for creativity and innovation, the building needs a name that reflects the bold, diverse, and inspiring world of arts, design and media. This is your chance to shape the future and honour a figure whose legacy speaks to creativity and culture.
Lindsey Chambers, Director of the School of Arts, said:
“This is more than just a name, it’s a statement about our ambitions and our plans for a bright future for our students. We want a name that inspires future generations and celebrates the incredible impact of the arts on society. Your ideas will help us write the next chapter in Wolverhampton’s creative story.”
How to Get Involved:
- Submit your idea for the new name along with a short rationale.
- Think big: consider diversity, cultural impact, and relevance to the arts.
- Entries are open now – don’t miss your chance to be part of Wolverhampton’s creative story!
The entries will be judged by a panel including University alumni, students, staff and local arts representatives.
The winner of the competition will be given the opportunity to officially open the school in a ribbon cutting ceremony to be held later in 2026.
Deadline:
Entries close on Friday 10 April 2026 – so get thinking and get involved!
