The aim of #UniMentalHealthDay is to get the nation talking about student mental health and make it everyone’s priority.

Online event
Join Student Minds for a free online event featuring an expert panel discussing the impact of AI on student mental health.

Mental Health Fairs
There will be a Mental Health Fair at each campus where you can drop by to meet a range of local and national wellbeing and support providers.

Frame of Mind and Creative Hands: Harrison Library Ground Floor, 10am - 12 midday
Take part in a mindful and creative workshop to design and paint a photo frame to house an image of your choice which helps promote calm - it is all a frame of mind!
Card-making: create unique cards for birthdays, cultural celebrations and wellbeing support.
Yarn Collective - Harrison Library Ground Floor 12 midday – 2pm
Yarn Collective is a supportive gathering of students and staff who meet twice per month. This session for University Mental Health Day embraces the theme of human connection through gentle crafting, community, and creating small crocheted and knitted hearts to gift around campus.

Human Connection
- Student Union Deli Café, 10am - 2pm: Leave your mark by adding your handprint to our community tree.
- Millennium City Building, foyer, 10.30am - 2.30pm
- You are a link in the chain that binds us all together – join the Wellbeing Champions to share what helps you feel connected and what connection means to you – add to the chain-making or write a note. As a community of students and staff, we would like to be creative in managing our communication and our connections together.
- Health and Social Care and Health and Wellbeing team will lead interactive activities designed to promote ‘communication and connection’, particularly with students and practice.
UWR Race Team – work as a team for the tyre change challenge, City Courtyard 11am - 2pm
Gardening for Wellbeing - City Courtyard 1pm - 3pm at the Costa Wall Planter
What does connection mean to you? Careers and the Workplace 1.30pm - 3.30pm
Spend some time with Practitioners from the Mental Health and Wellbeing Team
- Collage and Colouring Books - a table where students can come and drop in to do some colouring or collage. The aim if for students to take time out of their day to take part in a mindful creative activity, with the added opportunity to connect with others whilst colouring and collaging too.
- Live Word Clouds - a table where students can offer a single word answer to questions about connection (e.g. what quality makes a good friend?). The student will write the word down and post it in a voting box(es). The team will regularly review the voting box(es) and input the words into live world clouds that will be visible on a screen. We have considered printing these clouds out and having them in frames in the health hub.
- Affirmation Swap - a display where affirmations can be offered and swapped. Students will be able to write down an affirmation on a piece of card, offer it to the display, and then take another affirmation from the board in return.
Connect at Sunset, Student Journey Centre, 4.30pm – 7pm
An evening of conversation and craft. Vegetarian food will be served at sunset. Explore craft and activities inspired by world faith, including Ramadan and Lent.
Walsall activities
WLV Sports will be offering a range of games and activities, including the Batak machine and table tennis.
The Student Success Coaches and Wellbeing team will lead various craft-based activities as part of the fair at the Go Lounge.
