We are delighted to share the news that the Rt Hon. Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP, Speaker of the House of Commons, has been appointed as the next Chancellor of the University of Wolverhampton.

This is a significant moment for our University, and one that reflects our continuing ambition and commitment to transforming lives through education, research and innovation. Sir Lindsay's lifelong commitment to public service, fairness and opportunity reflects many of the values that are central to our University.

Sir Lindsay succeeds Lord Paul of Marylebone, who served with distinction as Chancellor for 26 years. During his tenure, Lord Paul made an outstanding contribution to the University, supporting our growth, strengthening our reputation and championing our civic mission.

Throughout his career, Sir Lindsay has been a passionate advocate for ensuring that people from all backgrounds have the opportunity to achieve their potential. From his early years in local government through to his role as Speaker of the House of Commons, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to representation, inclusion and public service.

His appointment comes at an exciting time for the University as we continue to build on our strengths and ambitions. With growing student numbers, major investment in our campuses and digital infrastructure, the launch of our Clinical Trials Unit and the development of the Black Country Medical School, the University continues to make significant progress across a number of strategic priorities.

As Chancellor, Sir Lindsay will play an important ambassadorial role for the University, supporting and championing our students, staff, graduates and partners, while helping to promote the impact of our work locally, nationally and internationally.
