Updates to Library study Spaces
Harrison Library, City Campus
Over the summer period we made a number of changes to some of the library spaces. One of biggest changes was a refresh of the Harrison Library 1st floor Atrium where many of our nursing and healthcare books are located. This is a popular area to study but there are limited numbers of study desks that have easily accessible power sockets. The goals were to a) increase the overall number of study spaces with a mix of large and small desks, b) to reconfigure the shelving to allow for more study spaces to be installed along the windows where there are plenty of power sockets (but previously hidden because of the shelving). We also took the opportunity to install some nicer shelving that had been relocated from Walsall Campus Library
Walsall Campus Library
At Walsall our returning students will notice that the library helpdesk has moved! Once located in the main Performance Hub foyer area, the helpdesk has move inside ground floor the library area, as have our self-service machines. We hope this move will make it much easier for you to speak to the team when you need any help in the library.
The old helpdesk location is now used by the ASK@WLV team
We have also made a new area to provide skills support in a slightly more enclosed space for added privacy. You can find all of the drop-in times for skills support here
Other changes to Walsall library include a small reduction in shelving in the centre of the ground floor allowing much more light to filter through and provide more opportunities for more study space! We are working on bringing additional study desks into this newly made space over the coming months but feel free to start using the space now and let the team know what kind of furniture you would like to see added into this area use the feedback form below.
We’ve also added more small study desks to the ground floor that are all equipped with desktop power modules for keeping your devices charged as you study!

We will have more updates on Hutchison Library soon but we are working on relocating the Silent Study room and introducing a Contemplation Room.
You may notice that the printers have been moved so there is now a printer in each of the main study areas.
