Prize Winning Children’s Fiction at Walsall Library

Waterstone Childrens Book Prize winners 2024 covers

For our students studying to work in early years, primary and secondary education we have a great selection of children's fiction in our Curriculum Resources collection. 

Our latest display at Walsall library feature all the books shortlisted in the 2024  Waterstones Children’s Book Prize, the Yoto Carnegie Medal for Illustration and the Yoto Carnegie Medal for Writing. Follow the links to find out more.

Books shortlisted for these awards are of high quality and provide a good introduction to contemporary literature for children and young people.

You are welcome to borrow any of the books on display or browse and reserve the books via the collection Children's Book Prize Shortlisted Books.

The 2024 prize winners for the Waterstones prize are 

  • Waterstones Best Book for Older Readers - Thieves Gambit by Kayvion Lewis 
  • Waterstones Best Book for Younger Readers - Greenwild by Pari Thomson (Overall Winner)
  • Waterstones Best Illustrated Book- The Search for the Giant Artic Jellyfish by Chloe Savage

The Yoto Carnegie and Greenaway winners will be announced on June 20th.
