How we can help you
Our sessions provide a relaxed, friendly and non-judgemental atmosphere offering assistance with any aspects of Mathematics or Mathematics related subjects.
We can go through your notes with you, show you extra examples, go through a specific technique with you or teach you how to use the specialist maths or statistical software we have available.
We understand that maths can be tricky, especially if it is a topic you haven’t seen before. It can be difficult to pick something up first time, particularly if you had to go through it quickly.
Maybe you just want someone to go over a topic again but at a slower pace, or you need to see a few extra examples. Perhaps there is part of one example you just don’t follow and need someone to explain how they got the answer they did.

Whether you're new to drug calculations or simply refreshing your skills, this session will help you build a strong foundation in the maths essential for safe clinical practice. You'll explore key concepts such as decimal numbers, multiplication and division methods, fractions, and unit conversions. Through step-by-step guidance, you'll learn how to approach common drug calculations, including tablet dosages, fluid suspensions, and intravenous infusions.

Following ‘Introduction to Drug Calculations’, this session supports students who are confident with the basics and ready to move on to more complex calculations. You’ll explore key topics such as bodyweight‑based dosing, working with concentrations, and pharmacy‑style calculations.

safeMedicate is used on many healthcare courses to assess drug calculation skills. This short session will introduce safeMedicate and help you feel more confident about what to expect and how to approach the assessments.

Statistics can seem overwhelming, but understanding the overall process makes it much easier to approach. This two-hour workshop will give you an overview of the key steps in statistical analysis, from defining research questions and hypotheses to summarising data, choosing appropriate methods, and interpreting results.

SPSS, statistical software that is widely used to analyse quantitative data, can feel daunting when you first open it. This short workshop will guide you through a demonstration of SPSS, showing how to navigate the interface, manage data, and carry out basic tasks.

JASP is a free, user‑friendly statistical software package used to analyse data. This short workshop will introduce JASP with a demonstration exploring the layout, opening datasets, and running simple analyses.

Excel is a Microsoft application for managing data, and it can help you with everything from simple calculations to advanced analysis. This workshop introduces essential Excel features including creating and formatting spreadsheets, and importing and cleaning data.

This session introduces the use of formulas and functions for calculations and data analysis in Excel. This workshop builds on the introductory session and is suitable for students who are familiar with the basics of Excel.

In this two-hour session you’ll explore techniques for presenting data clearly using tables, charts and infographics. You’ll learn how to select appropriate chart types to communicate your data effectively. We’ll explore how to turn raw data into compelling visuals using tools like Excel.
