The University of Wolverhampton has achieved a prestigious QS Five-Star rating, the highest possible score in the internationally recognised QS Stars rating system, recognising excellence across key areas including teaching, employability, global engagement and the student experience.

This latest recognition builds on a strong run of national accolades for the University, including being ranked among the Top 10 universities in the UK and No.1 in the West Midlands for University of the Year in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards, as well as winning a national award for widening participation at the NEON Awards and being commended among the UK’s best institutions for its impact on access to higher education.

The internationally recognised QS Stars rating system evaluates universities against a wide range of performance indicators, focusing on institutional strengths rather than league table comparisons.

Key highlights from the assessment include:

  • High levels of student satisfaction and strong retention, reflecting a supportive learning environment
  • Graduate employment, underlining a clear focus on employability and real-world outcomes
  • Recognition for teaching quality, modern facilities and a strong global outlook, with a diverse international student community
  • Strengths in environmental impact and equality, diversity and inclusion, demonstrating the University’s commitment to sustainability and inclusive education

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebrahim Adia, said:

“Achieving a QS Five-Star rating is a powerful endorsement of the quality and impact of everything we do at the University of Wolverhampton. It reflects our commitment to delivering excellent teaching, a supportive and inclusive student experience, and strong graduate outcomes.

“What is particularly encouraging is the momentum we are building as an institution. From being recognised by our students as a Top 10 UK university, to receiving national recognition for our work widening access to higher education, these achievements demonstrate that we are consistently delivering on our mission to create opportunity, transform lives and drive positive change.

“This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our staff, students and partners, and gives us real confidence as we continue to build our reputation nationally and globally.”

With continued investment in its Digital Strategy, teaching, facilities and student support, the University of Wolverhampton is strengthening its position as a modern, inclusive and globally connected institution.
