8 bargain lunches to fill your belly

Getting used to a student budget can be hard – as can fending for yourself with food. So of course, there will be times you’ll simply want to grab something convenient. If it’s hot, tasty and nutritious it’s an added bonus.

Here we run down our favourite places close to City Campus that can fill our bellies, preferably with budget-friendly options.

1) On campus

When the rain’s pouring, you’ll find plenty of tasty options for quick-fix lunches and snacks without having to leave campus. And with YoYo wallet, you don’t need to carry cash, and get points too!

2) Nutmeg

For delicious Middle Eastern fayre at a fair price, look no further than Nutmeg on Farmers Fold (the alley beside Waterstones). Friendly, feel-good and filling, it’s great for veggies and vegans too. Don’t forget to check out their specials board!

3) Sachins

Whether it’s chilli chicken or saag paneer, you can warm your insides with hearty daily specials from Sachins for well under £5. Or if you just need a snack, why not grab some of their samosas? Eat in or take-away from Victoria Street, or grab something from their trailer on Dudley Street.

4) Dragon Noodles

If you want to grab and go with oodles of noodles, keep an eye out for the Hungry Dragon Street Food pop-up on Dudley Street for a quick and easy solution.

5) Dudley Street market

For something a bit different, head to Dudley Street on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month for Wolverhampton’s Speciality Market where you can grab Fairtrade, Farm Fresh and Fast Feasts! …Phew!

Zuri Coffee

If you’re heading to or from the bus or train station, satisfy your cravings with Indian street food favourite, Zuri Coffee on Lichfield Street.

Falafilo

If falafel is your favourite thing, or you want something exotic and delicious, head to Falafilo on the corner of King Street. Sample their creamy houmous or awesome wraps, or just sit outside with a coffee and feel deliciously continental.

Café Maxsim

For lots of options, whatever your appetite, pop to Café Maxsim on Darlington Street. With meal deals for under a fiver and BOGOF tea/coffee from 11am-12pm, it’s a popular place to take a break.

After all that, we’re heading for lunch before we drool on our desks… bon appetit!
