Training event: Computational Literary Studies School
Join us in person for the Computational Literary Studies UK Training School to boost your digital lit skills!
Friday 6 - Saturday 7 February 2026
On campus
Organised by CLSUK, the UK’s first coordinated network for computational literary studies, the Training School promotes innovative, ethical approaches to digital humanities. Last year’s event drew over 30 participants from the UK and Europe, and this year promises an even stronger programme.
This year's School features an exceptional lineup:
- Professor Karina van Dalen-Oskam (Huygens Institute, Netherlands)
- Dr Lamyk Bekius (University of Antwerp, Belgium)
- Martin Wynne (University of Oxford)
- Professor Maciej Eder (Jagiellonian University, Poland), co-author of the widely used R stylometry software
Participants will explore cutting-edge methods in text mining, stylometry, and computational analysis, gaining insights into how technology intersects with literature, culture, and bias.
The Training School is free and open to all with a keen interest in boosting skills in the CLS field. You do not need to know Python programming, but openness towards using new technologies for research is a must!
The event builds on the University’s AHRC-funded Novel Perceptions project and its collaboration with the BBC on Novels That Shaped Our World.

The School coincides with the Digital Futures Lab launch on Saturday, 7 February, featuring installations and talks at the National Brownfield Institute.
