22/10/2021

A University of Wolverhampton Degree Apprentice is surveying another career highlight by being shortlisted for a prestigious award.

Ryan Allen, 28, from Solihull, has been shortlisted for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Matrics Young Surveyor Awards 2021.

Now in their 8th year, the awards have become one of the highlights in the RICS calendar. The prestigious awards recognise the inspirational and diverse young surveying professionals in the UK and showcase the highest standards of professionalism and innovation within the built environment, providing an opportunity to identify the leaders of the future.

He graduated with a First Class Honours Chartered Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship and works as a Senior Consultant, Contract Services with Turner & Townsend who funded his degree studies through the Apprenticeship Levy.

Ryan studied part time for the three-year Apprenticeship whilst at the same time working towards becoming a Chartered Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

He said: “I’m really thrilled to have been shortlisted in these prestigious awards.  A huge thanks to my colleagues who nominated me and congratulations to all the other finalists.

“It’s really important that your employer is 100% behind you when you’re studying for a Degree Apprenticeship and I had so much support from my line manager as well as the academics on the course. It’s really helped me to achieve and put me on the path to go much further in my career than I ever thought possible.”

Ryan is the first employee at Turner & Townsend and University of Wolverhampton graduate to complete the Chartered Degree Apprenticeship route, successfully achieving RICS Chartership.

The awards ceremony will be held at The Hilton Park Lane, London, on 19 November 2021, where the winners will be announced.
